Nosotros Los Pobres
Nosotros los pobres ("We, the Poor") is a 1948 Mexican Drama Film directed by Ismael Rodriguez, and starring Pedro Infante, Blanca Estela Pavón and Evita Muñoz "Chachita". The film is first in a trilogy of movies, along with Ustedes Los Ricos1948, and Pepe El Toro in 1953. All the three of them were produced during the Golden Age of Mexican Cinema.
It was originally titled Topillos y Planillas named after two of the characters in the film and before the main character Jose "Pepe el Toro" was created, but later changed after its author Pedro de Urdimalas heard Abel Cureño who's also in the film and at that time was playing a street vendor selling oranges in the radio show La Banda de Huipanguillo, commenting about the unfair treatment of poor people in the city.
Nosotros los pobres es una película mexicana de 1948. Corresponde al género situado en el melodrama urbano. El argumento cinematográfico es de Ismael Rodriguez y Pedro de Urdimalas, y este último es quien interpreta en la cinta a un cargador de apodo: "El Topillos"; autor de una serie radiofónica que obtuvo gran popularidad con el título de Una tumba para llorar. La serie narraba la historia de una niña apodada "Viruta", hija de un carpintero simpático, enamoradizo y muy pobre, pero trabajador y honrado. El personaje de "Viruta" fue el que interpretó Evita Muñoz "Chachita" en la película, cambiándole solo el apodo de "Viruta" por el de la joven estrella, ya que la radionovela sirvió de base al argumento cinematográfico de la cinta Nosotros los pobres.
